Conservatives Policies in Federal Election 2019
As we get closer to the federal election in October, I am often asked about what policies a Conservative government will put in place.
We are still developing our election platform, but in the meantime, I would like to share some of the promises we’ve made thus far.
First and foremost, we will put an end to the carbon tax. The carbon tax isn’t a plan to lower emissions, it’s a plan to raise your taxes. Trudeau needs to raise your taxes so he can pay for his out of control spending. In fact, starting on April 1st your gas prices went up by an average of 5 cents a liter, and virtually everything you buy got more expensive, only because of Trudeau’s carbon tax. That’s why the first act of a Conservative government will be to eliminate this tax.
A Conservative government will also remove the GST from home heating and energy bills. In Canada, heating your home in the winter is a necessity – not a luxury. The government doesn’t tax other basic necessities like groceries and it shouldn’t be taxing home heating. By removing the GST from home heating and energy bills, we will put more money back into your pockets. The average Canadian household will save $107 per year. And when we repeal Trudeau’s carbon tax, you will save hundreds of dollars more each year.
Third, we will introduce the Supporting New Parents Act. This bill will give parents who are on parental leave the tax relief they deserve. It will remove federal tax from EI parental benefits, allowing parents to keep more of their money so they can cover the new expenses that come with a new child. Parents should not have to pay tax on the time they spend bonding with their newborns – especially not when they are already paying more than $800 extra in taxes per year thanks to the Liberal government.
Our Conservative team has a strong plan to make life more affordable for Canadian families. We want to help Canadians get ahead.
Stay tuned as we unveil more of our platform in the coming months!
